Main Wastewater Plant Renovation
TOWN OF WOODSTOCK NEWS RELEASE
January 27, 2026
WOODSTOCK, Vermont- The Town of Woodstock has been notified that the town will be receiving a $1,000,000 Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) grant to go towards the renovation of the Main Wastewater Treatment Facility.
The application was filed and secured through the office of Senator Peter Welch. The Town is thankful for the Senator’s work in securing this vital funding for Woodstock and our residents. Senator Welch has always been a champion of small-town Vermont, and this work proves that once again.
Harry Falconer of the Two Rivers-Ottauquechee Regional Commission (TRORC) and Jenevra Wetmore of Sustainable Woodstock assisted the Town in submitting the application. “I’m very pleased that Senator Welch was able to bring this money home for Woodstock in the appropriations bill,” Falconer wrote in response to the news. “This project represents a once-in-a-generation investment in a critical piece of Woodstock’s infrastructure, and this funding will help ensure that the facility is built to the highest standard possible for the decades to come.” This exciting news comes on the back of Woodstock receiving an $868,000 grant through the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) Catalyst program for two critical upgrades to Woodstock’s drinking water system (TRORC and Sustainable Woodstock also played major roles in securing these funds) and the Town receiving a $288,000 grant in 2024 to purchase the water system through the Community Recovery and Revitalization Program.
Woodstock’s Municipal Manager, Eric Duffy said this is another step in Woodstock finally making strides in infrastructure improvements after years of delayed maintenance. “In just over two years, we have secured over $2 million in grants to renovate our aging wastewater plant and to secure Woodstock’s water future. The Town has said from the moment I started that we are going to do big things but also work hard to minimize the burden of taxes for our residents. These grants accomplish both simultaneously. I am extremely grateful to Senator Welch, Sustainable Woodstock, and TRORC for proving once again what Vermont can do when we work together.”
The bond for the Wastewater Treatment Facility project will be voted on at Town Meeting on March 3, 2026. To learn more about this project, please visit
