Find a Certified Energy Auditor

Home Performance with Energy Star Certified Auditors Serving Central Vermont

What is an energy audit?

A home energy checkup helps owners determine where their house is losing energy and money – and how such problems can be corrected to make the home more energy efficient. A professional technician — often called an energy auditor — can give your home a checkup which includes checking for leaks, examining insulation, inspecting the furnace and ductwork, performing a blower door test and using an infrared camera.

This audit, also known as a home energy assessment, is the first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take to make your home more energy efficient. An assessment will show you problems that may, when corrected, save you significant amounts of money over time.

To qualify for Efficiency Vermont incentives your energy audit must be performed by a certified Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractor. These contractors are trained in an integrated whole-house approach that looks at your house as a system. The cost of this audit ranges from $200 to $500, however current discounts or promotions can reduce this cost.

You can find a contractor near you on Efficiency Vermont’s Website.
