Meet The Sustainable Woodstock Energy Action and Transportation (SWEAT) Group

The SW Energy Action and Transportation Group meets monthly and helps residents, businesses, and the municipalities adopt strategies to reduce their carbon footprints through transportation and energy initiatives. Join us for a fun and informal gathering to learn about our group and how you can get involved.

Green Drinks Lebanon, NH,
Municipal Solar, Ribbon Cutting

Lebanon will experience its first Green Drinks on Monday evening, March 2nd in the Galway Room at Salt Hill, 5-7 PM.  Green Drinks is an international movement to make sustainability fun by gathering people in an informal social environment to share ideas, projects, and inspiration.  Lebanon’s kickoff Green Drinks is being timed to coincide with the ribbon cutting of its seven-site, 750 kW municipal solar project which will happen at noon that day at the Kilton Library.  Both events are open to the public.

Green Drinks, My Mushroom Hobby

This month, Zach Ralph, will start a discussion about his obsession with the fantastical world of mushrooms, and how a walk in the woods was the beginning of his mushroom identification hobby.

Grab a snack and a drink and join us, on Zoom, to ask questions and learn how you might also start mushroom identification as your hobby.

Green Drinks- Upper Valley Climate Change Leadership Academy

Join us for a Green Drinks gathering and connect with environmentally-minded people from all walks of life. Ana Mejia, Climate Projects Coordinator at Vital Communities will start us off by sharing some exciting community-based projects that participants from the Upper Valley Climate Change Leadership Academy (2CLA) have been developing. 2CLA is a pilot project of the Upper Valley Adaptation Workgroup and Vital Communities. This informal gathering is part of a recurring series of Upper Valley Green Drinks in partnership with Sustainable Woodstock.

Alison Clarkson will lead a discussion about the progress of the Global Warming Solutions Act through the VT General Assembly. This is an act regulating carbon emission in Vermont.

Upper Valley Green Drinks- Vershare (Vershire)

Join us as we continue the Green Drinks tour of projects and towns throughout the Upper Valley. This month we will explore what’s going on in Vershire, VT with a discussion about Vershare. VerShare is a grass-roots community service organization incorporated in 1998. Vershare builds community spirit and involvement, to foster economic development, and to contribute to projects that benefit the residents of Vershire, Vermont.

This month’s GreenDrinks will focus on home weatherization with Efficiency Vermont’s Becca White and COVER Home Repair’s Bill Neukomm. Learn the answers to some of the most common weatherization questions, and get your questions answered! This year Efficiency VT is also offering DIY project rebates of $100 and virtual home energy visits–join us to learn how to access these great incentives. 

Green Drinks-Environmental Justice in VT

Vermont is one of eight states in the country that does not have a statewide environmental justice (EJ) policy. The REJOICE Project (Rural Environmental Justice Opportunities Informed by Community Expertise) aims to fix that by crafting an environmental justice policy for our state. Join us to learn about the project from team member Jennifer Byrne.

Join us December 17th for our monthly Green Drinks series to get all your waste questions answered! Ham Gillett from the Greater Upper Valley Solid Waste Management District will join us to give updates on food scraps/composting, the world of recycling, and how to dispose of paint/batteries/electronics/bulbs. There will be plenty of time for open question and answer, so bring your questions about that old mercury thermometer.
