Current Volunteer Opportunities
Saturday, June 4 is the annual Trek to Taste in the National Park, and we are looking for people to help at the South Peak venue serving local food from 10:00 to 3:00. Yes, that’s the top of Mt. Tom and requires hiking up, but it’s a great time. We generally see about 200 people trekking to the top, and we have the best views in town. Our biggest crowd is usually from 12:00 to 1:00, so we can use extra hands then. If you want to help set up at 9:00 you can get a ride up, but still need to hike back down. Just an hour of your time would be a great help.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with the Covered Bridges Half Marathon on Sunday, June 5. We coordinate the recycling and compost collection at Suicide Six starting at 6:45am and at the finish in Quechee starting at 9am. Each shift lasts about 2 hours. (At last year’s event about 500 pounds of compost went to a local farmer and we diverted 75% of the remaining material to recycling.) You get a CBHM volunteer t-shirt and lots of kudos from visitors.
Please contact Sally Miller (also by phone at 457-2911) if you are interested in helping out at one of these fun events.
